TITLE: Say It Loud And Its True
DATE: October 27, 2019 Christ is risen. He is risen, indeed. TEXT: Matthew 26:63-66 - ESV- And the high priest said to him, “I adjure you by the living God, tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God.” 64 Jesus said to him, “You have said so. But I tell you, from now on you will see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.” 65 Then the high priest tore his robes and said, “He has uttered blasphemy. What further witnesses do we need? You have now heard his blasphemy. 66 What is your judgment?” They answered, “He deserves death.” Businesses have discovered if you say something in a powerful way, people will often listen and respond in a positive way. If you’d like a few examples of what I mean, I could refer you to:
The fact that people listen when you say something in a powerful way did not escaped the high priest at Jesus' trial. After all, he needed something to work for him. He was fully aware the trial was illegal and the witnesses were all liars. He needed something to work for him and that something was Jesus’ admission He was God’s Son. It was time to push the drama of the point. That’s why, the High Priest got dramatic. He tore his clothes to show his rage; he proclaimed Jesus' words to be blasphemous and he dismissed the false accusers. Then he told the jury what verdict they should bring in. It really was quite a performance, and the devil is the director of the play. The Sanhedrin listened to the dramatic "facts" back then, and people are still listening today. People still desert the Truth of Scripture to follow powerful personalities. Many people applaud the school textbooks which reduce Jesus to the role of teacher. No matter what way it comes out, we need to remember that the Father of Lies is still doing the talking. No matter how well criticism against Jesus is said, we need to remember Jesus is Truth. That is fact. Everything else is well choreographed fiction. THE PRAYER: Lord Jesus, You died to be my Savior. , You are Truth. The rest is fiction. Help people to understand the distinction. Help me share Your truth with those who might believe otherwise. May I live as Your faithful disciple, drinking from the sweet or bitter cup that is given to me. In Your Name I pray. Amen. The music which introduces and concludes our devotions was written by Guy Baumann. He along with three of his brothers perform on the album: The Baumann Brothers which may be ordered here: http://thebaumannbrothers.com/index.html
