Ancient proverb – If you give a man a devotion, you feed him spiritually for a day

I can’t prove it, but “they say” humankind’s search for knowledge ends up with a warehouse of books and papers being published every day. “Published, read and forgotten.” That’s what ‘they say.’ Well, I don’t know if they’re right in what “they say”, but I am sure there is so much raw information being produced it’s impossible for any one man or woman to digest it. Which is why it’s refreshing to note that, over the years, a number of books have been published which contain only blank pages. One book, published in Belgium, carried the humorous title, “The Memoirs of an Amnesiac.” My personal favorite was one which was published in 1929. The year is important since the book, filled with blank pages, was entitled, “What I Know About Wall Street After 14 Years Experience.” If we are honest with ourselves, we have to admit that we really don’t know much at all. Even worse, most of us are pretty sure the facts of which we are sure of today will probably be contradicted tomorrow. Which is one reason I find joy in being a Christian. I may not know a lot, but I do know the Son of God, the Savior of the world, has redeemed me. Sent by the heavenly Father as a Divine act of grace, Jesus gave His life so I might have life. Because of Jesus, believers know they are loved by God. That’s why, as we live our lives, no matter how ignorant we may feel about other things, we can rest assured that we have that one thing needful: we know Jesus is our crucified Savior and our risen and ever-living Lord. THE PRAYER: Dear Lord, there are so many things in this life that I do not know, that I will never understand. Let my ignorance daily remind me of how much I need and depend on Your love, Your wisdom, Your Son.
